KALBAR SATU – YAPPIKA Action-Aid with Gemawan institute, in an effort to promote civil society initiatives for inclusive and quality education in Indonesia (Pro-Inqlued), conducted a school visit to SDN 15 Seburing, Seburing Village, Semparuk District, Sambas Regency.
In the current visit, the Pro-Inqlued Team followed up on the results of the problem identification list (DIM) in the school and did documentation and short video making (documentaries).
The District Coordinator (DC) Nurfauzah conveyed, “The arrival of the Pro-Inclued Program Team is to pay a visit and establish good cooperation with the assisted partner school in our effort for the program achievement”.
Ruslan (50), The Head of SDN 15 Seburing positively welcomed the presence of the Pro-Inqlued TEAM.
“We would like to thank Gemawan institute for making our school one of the assisted partner schools for the Pro-Inqlued program,” he said.
With the school condition, Ruslan’s continued, which is quite alarming, the floor made of wood planks have broken a lot and are already brittle.
“Many of the ceilings, decks and roofs are leaking. We even use the former teacher’s official residence to become the classrooms for grade 1 and 2 which are said to be far from proper,” he added.
Ruslan added, this year we just received an aid in the form of 1 (one) building of a classroom for studying.
“However, we still feel grateful and would like to thank the local government of Sambas regency for their efforts to advance and improve our school condition even though it has not been fulfilled based on the school conditions,” he explained.
Ruslan hoped SDN 15 Seburing, in the following year, will receive severe rehabilitation aid.
“Starting from the floor, it has to have cement foundation and roof on the top part,” he hoped.
Pendi (59), as a classroom teacher, added that since the establishment of this school from 1981-1982 SDN 15 Seburing had only been repaired once.
“That was only light rehabilitation on the top part in 2008 from special allocation funds. Until today, there have been a lot of damage therefore the safety of students and teachers in teaching and learning process are very alarming,” he explained.
In line with what was conveyed by Teguh (11), a grade-6 (six) student, “Our school condition has a lot of damage. If you want to go to the toilet you have to queue and the condition is bad”.
Hardian also stated that to enhance and actualize quality education, there has to be involvement from many stakeholders.
