Gemawan distributed masks and vitamins to residents in 14 partner villages across Sambas Regency on Thursday (September 17, 2026). The assistance was delivered through members of the Serumpun Sambas group to help meet communities’ basic protective needs, particularly amid ongoing concerns over air quality.
The distribution is part of Gemawan’s efforts, together with community groups and village-level networks, to respond directly to local needs. In addition to providing essential protective supplies, the initiative is expected to strengthen community preparedness in dealing with environmental conditions that may affect residents’ health and daily activities.
A total of 15 aid packages were prepared for distribution to the partner villages. Each package contained one box of children’s masks (50 pieces), 15 packs of KF94 adult masks (150 pieces), one box of regular adult masks (50 pieces), and 17 strips and two additional tablets of Becom-Z vitamins.
Gemawan activist Waty explained that the assistance was distributed to residents in 14 partner villages across several subdistricts in Sambas Regency.
“The distribution covered Lumbang and Gapura villages in Sambas Subdistrict; Tempatan in Sebawi Subdistrict; Sempalai, Sungai Kelambu, and Serindang in Tebas Subdistrict; Parit Setia and Bakau in Jawai Subdistrict; Sengawang in Teluk Keramat Subdistrict; Sekuduk, Penakalan, and Parit Raja in Sejangkung Subdistrict; as well as Tamang Sagang and Sagang hamlets in Tri Kembang Village, Galing Subdistrict,” Waty explained.
According to Waty, the initiative goes beyond simply distributing aid. It also seeks to foster a shared sense of responsibility for the well-being of village communities. The involvement of local partner groups plays an important role in ensuring that assistance reaches residents who need it most.
“Through this distribution, we are working to ensure that essential protective supplies reach people in rural communities. We hope residents will make good use of this assistance, particularly those who must continue working or carrying out activities outdoors when air quality is poor,” Waty said.
Gemawan also encourages residents to remain aware of environmental conditions and take appropriate precautions during their daily activities. Wearing masks, particularly outdoors, is one simple measure communities can take to protect their health.
The distribution of assistance to the 14 villages also reinforces the role of community groups and local networks in responding to residents’ needs. For Gemawan, the presence of village-level groups is essential to strengthening solidarity and ensuring that responses to challenges faced by local communities are delivered more quickly and effectively.
