Ford Foundation Halal Bihalal: Women’s Leadership Talk Show in Land Rights

The Ford Foundation Jakarta again held another post Eid Al-Fitr meeting with partners and stakeholders. The event which was conducted on Tuesday (2/7) was a combination of networking activities and discussion forum. This year, the discussion forum highlighted the great contribution and leadership of women in the areas of land rights for local communities, economic development and livelihoods.

Located at the Sequis Center Auditorium, the discussion forum with the talk-show format presented four female leaders who have played a key role in reducing inequality in economic value chain, they were: Dewi Kartika (Secretary General of the Agrarian Reform Consortium) Lely Khairnur (Executive Director of Gemawan Institute), Helianti Helman (founder of Javara), and Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti (Head of the SDGs Secretariat, Ministry of National Development Planning / Bappenas). These women are considered to have contributed in fighting for the rights of communities – especially indigenous and rural communities – by using their knowledge and unique resources.

In addition to become a networking and promotion arena, this activity aims to, firstly, to facilitate a networking space for the Ford Foundation, grantee partners and government partners to interact and share information. Secondly, to highlight and appreciating the achievements and contributions of the grantee partners from the Ford Foundation. Thirdly, to promote the activities of the Ford Foundation in Indonesia as a philanthropic institution which supports social justice and equality.

The meeting which was held since 09.00 WIB was also enlivened by a stand-up comedy performance by Sakdiyah Ma’ruf to entertain the participants who were partners of the Ford Foundation in Indonesia, such as the government, the Ford Foundation alumni staff, and grantee partners.
