Dialog Multipihak Kubu Raya

Here is the translation of the text into English:

**Climate change presents a real challenge for Kubu Raya Regency. As a region with diverse landscapes ranging from coastal mangrove areas to extensive peatlands, shifting seasonal patterns, floods, and droughts directly impact the productivity of the agricultural sector.**

This situation places rural communities—particularly women farmers—as the most vulnerable group, due to limited access to climate information and limited involvement in decision-making processes.

In response to these challenges, Lembaga Gemawan held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) entitled “Strengthening Community Resilience Through Gender-Responsive and Climate-Adaptive Development in Kubu Raya Regency.”

The event took place in the meeting room of the Regional Development Planning, Research, and Development Agency (Bappeda Litbang) of Kubu Raya Regency on Monday, June 29, 2026, and involved various Regional Government Agencies (OPD), academics, and groups of women farmers supported by Gemawan.

In his opening remarks, Hermawansyah from Lembaga Gemawan—familiarly called Wawan—emphasized that this dialogue marked the initial step in introducing the KUAT Women Farmers Program (Leadership, Enterprise, Agroecology, and Technology).

This program, initiated by Lembaga Gemawan, aims to drive systemic change to support marginalized women at the grassroots level, enabling them to transform into key actors in development—not only within the domestic sphere but also in the public domain.

“We are using the 3R approach: Recognition, Representation, and Redistribution. Through this approach, we ensure acknowledgment of the role of women farmers, provide space for them to be involved in decisions, and guarantee fairer access to resources and climate information,” explained Wawan.

The event was officially opened by Rini Kurnia Solihat, Head of Bappeda Litbang of Kubu Raya Regency. In her address, Rini highlighted the importance of reconstructing indicators for women’s employment in villages.

Currently, many productive activities carried out by women farmers are still categorized as outside the workforce because they are considered merely domestic matters, even though their real contributions to agricultural land are enormous for family economies.

“Women’s participation aged 15 and above in formal employment in Kubu Raya remains low due to the dominance of domestic work. Yet in reality, their workload is double—from household chores to working in the fields. This FGD serves as an important moment to strengthen their economic roles,” said Rini.

Rini expressed hope that this dialogue would generate real data and concrete input that can be directly integrated with the work programs of OPD in Kubu Raya.

“We hope that Gemawan’s program does not run alone, but rather can continue and be sustainably integrated with regional strategic policies,” she added.

Rahmawati, a resource person from Lembaga Gemawan, presented on the urgency of providing an inclusive climate information system. According to her, information regarding planting seasons, weather forecasts, and potential forest and land fires often does not reach the women in rural areas who need it most.

The dialogue was interactive, with each OPD representative presenting their ongoing work programs and mapping opportunities for cross-sector collaboration.

Going forward, it is hoped that through this multi-stakeholder dialogue, a synergistic collaborative commitment will be established to strengthen community resilience against climate change.
