Taqabbalallahu minna wa minkum (May Allah accept our deeds and yours). Eid al-Fitr, which is celebrated every 1 Shawwal in the Hijri calendar, marks the end of Ramadhan fast for one whole month for Muslims who are able or are not hindered to practice it.
Minal ‘Aidin wal-Faizin (From those who came back and succeeded). May we all belong to those who return to fitrah) and succeed in practicing self-restraint.
Gemawan Association is a non-governmental organization founded by student activists in 1999 in West Kalimantan. The vision is to have sovereign and dignified society.
Currently led by Director Laili Khairnur, with the founding board of Muhammad Isa, Hermawansyah, Uray Endang Kusumajaya, and the members or volunteers of Gemawan who contribute their energy and thoughts in helping the government and elements of society, in order to create a just, prosperous, peaceful and safe society.
Gemawan is known for its missions to build a militant and progressive social movement. Developing learning organizations at all levels. Building a center of excellence with strong networks at all levels. Encouraging open governance and excellent public services. Increasing the capacity of militant, efficient and independent human resources.
Then, defending the basic rights of marginalized communities (KLMTD). Fighting for gender justice. Fighting for ecological justice/climate change. Developing superior technological innovation.
The real work of Gemawan association since 1999, in assisting local governments from actualizing good governance to empowering communities in all fields, has made Gemawan one of the references for domestic and foreign researchers.
The activists of Gemawan have various social, ethnic, national, and religious backgrounds, but come together from actualizing community independence to good and open governance. (Gemawan-Mud)
