Promoting Rural Women’s Economic Independence, Gemawan Holds Business Planning and Cash Bookkeeping Training in Punggur Kecil

KUBU RAYA REGENCY – Gemawan organized a Small Business Planning and Cash Bookkeeping Training program in Punggur Kecil Village on October 29, 2026. The initiative aimed to foster an entrepreneurial mindset among women at the grassroots level while encouraging them to make better use of local natural resources to create economic opportunities.

Held at the Punggur Kecil Village Hall, the training brought together 25 women involved in local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Throughout the full-day program, participants explored two main topics: the fundamentals of starting a small business and preparing simple financial records.

Beyond classroom discussions, the training included hands-on exercises in developing business plans and maintaining cash books, allowing participants to apply what they had learned directly to their own business activities.

Maulisa, a Gemawan facilitator affectionately known as Icha, emphasized the importance of proper business planning and organized financial management.

“When a business is well planned and its finances are properly recorded, it becomes much easier to calculate exactly how much profit it makes,” Icha explained during the session.

She also highlighted that the natural resources available within the village could provide a valuable starting point for women seeking to develop new businesses.

“To start a business, you don’t necessarily need to look far for raw materials. We can turn the resources available in our own village into economic opportunities. For example, we have plenty of cassava here, which can be processed into chips. Ginger is also abundant and can be turned into syrup,” she added.

Tari, one of the training participants, welcomed the initiative and expressed her appreciation for the practical knowledge provided.

“We’re very happy and grateful for this training. Usually, we just run our businesses as we go, without keeping proper financial records. Now we understand how to plan our businesses and manage the money we earn from sales more effectively,” Tari shared.

Another participant, Utin, hoped that similar mentoring activities would continue in the future.

“This kind of training is something we really need. We hope there will be further assistance, particularly in marketing and product packaging development, so our businesses can continue to grow,” Utin said.

The training provided an opportunity for women entrepreneurs to strengthen their understanding of business planning, financial management, and the potential of locally available resources.

Through this initiative, Gemawan hopes to create new economic opportunities and strengthen the financial independence of women in Punggur Kecil Village and surrounding communities.
