Bank Sampah Eco Center

Nurpunati serves as the Secretary General of Serumpun Singkawang and Chairperson of the Serumpun Sejati Waste Bank.
In her daily life, she dedicates her time to sorting and collecting waste from designated bins placed across various locations. Her commitment extends beyond residential areas — even when she goes fishing along the coast, she takes the time to collect litter scattered along the beach.

Once the collected waste reaches a sufficient amount, she sells it directly to the Main Waste Bank, saving the proceeds to support further waste management initiatives. Her tireless dedication to environmental cleanliness has made her a frequent collaborator in various programs organized by the Environmental Agency (DLH).

Nurpunati’s achievements are equally remarkable. She has won first place in both the Clean and Healthy Lifestyle Competition (PHBS) and the Waste Bank Competition (LBS) at the city and provincial levels for two consecutive years.

Thanks to her strong commitment, she was recently appointed as Coordinator of the Singkawang Waste Bank Network during the Eco Center Forum Declaration in Singkawang at the end of September 2024.
This new role further strengthens her contribution to waste management and environmental preservation in her region.

Forum Eco Center Singkawang

The establishment of the Eco Center Forum aims to raise community awareness and participation in waste management, while promoting the use of eco-friendly technologies.
The center also serves as a platform for collaboration among stakeholders, ensuring that waste management initiatives are strengthened through synergy and partnership.

Moreover, the Eco Center focuses on building human capacity by providing training and education on effective waste management practices.
By advocating for policies that support sustainable waste management, the center is expected to become a catalyst for meaningful environmental change.

Equally important, it functions as a knowledge-sharing hub, enabling communities and institutions to exchange experiences and insights in protecting the environment.

With unwavering passion and dedication, Nurpunati stands as an inspiring example of how women can lead transformative actions to create a cleaner and more sustainable world.
