Legal recognition is not merely an administrative step — it serves as a gateway for organizations to grow, strengthen, and establish themselves as vital community resources. In line with this spirit, SETARA (Serikat Perempuan Kabupaten Kayong Utara), one of the women’s groups assisted by Gemawan, has officially registered its organization through a notarial deed and the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham).
In addition, SETARA also formalized its business unit — a cooperative named Koperasi Konsumen Lumbung Pangan Perempuan Sejahtera (LP2S) — which was also registered through a notary.
This legalization process aims to ensure that both SETARA as an organization and its cooperative unit can grow stronger and operate more sustainably in the future.
The registration process was carried out at two different notary offices:
-
The cooperative’s registration was completed under Notary Ade Indra Waspada, S.H., M.Kn., located on Jl. Batu Daya, Kayong Utara, and officially recorded on August 16, 2024.
-
Meanwhile, the legal status of SETARA as an organization was notarized by Notary Budi Prasetyo, S.H., on Jl. Gusti Hamzah, Pontianak, and recorded on July 29, 2024.
Empowering Women Through Legal Recognition
Waliyah Badaryati, Chairperson of SETARA, expressed her gratitude to Gemawan for supporting the legalization process of both the organization and the cooperative.
“We are deeply thankful to Gemawan for assisting us in securing our legal status. We hope that with this, both SETARA and our cooperative can continue to grow and contribute more effectively to women’s empowerment,”
said Waliyah.
She further explained that the next step is to report and register their legal status with relevant government agencies to receive official guidance and oversight.
“Since both SETARA and our cooperative operate within Kayong Utara Regency, we plan to register the cooperative with the Department of Cooperatives, SMEs, Industry, and Trade of KKU, and SETARA with Kesbangpol KKU (the National Unity and Political Agency). This way, both entities can be officially recognized and included in government programs, enabling greater development opportunities,”
Waliyah added.
Formal Handover of Legal Documents
During a cooperative technical training (Bimtek) held on September 21, 2024, at Villa Air Paoh, Sukadana, and supported by Gemawan, SETARA’s cooperative board officially handed over duplicate copies of their legal documents to Mr. Sadikin, a representative from the Department of Cooperatives, SMEs, Industry, and Trade of Kayong Utara Regency, who also served as a resource person during the training.
