The spirit of women’s empowerment in North Kayong shone brightly during the training program “Women’s Leadership and Digital Capacity Building”, held in three villages—Masbangun, Wonorejo, and Podorukun, North Kayong Regency. From September 18 to 20, 2025, the program served as a shared learning space for women entrepreneurs and village cadres to strengthen self-confidence, leadership, and business management skills enhanced by technology.
A total of 32 participants from the Usaha Baru, Delima, and Anggrek groups actively took part in the sessions. They not only discussed participatory leadership and women’s roles in community development but also practiced using Canva and simple AI tools to promote their products.
During the digital training, participants were also encouraged to creatively transform local materials into marketable products. For instance, the Usaha Baru Group from Masbangun Village successfully produced coconut candies that became a source of pride for the community. Meanwhile, the Delima Group from Podorukun Village processed corn into colorful jelly candies, and the Anggrek Group from Wonorejo Village excelled in designing digital promotional materials.

Women of North Kayong Ignite Empowerment
“The participants were enthusiastic and courageous in experimenting. They were not only learning, but also creating products that could become sources of income,” said Maulisa, Head of the People’s Economy Unit at the Gemawan Association.
Despite facing challenges such as difficult road access and limited internet connectivity, their enthusiasm remained strong. They even planned follow-up actions by forming a leadership discussion forum and developing independent marketing strategies for local products.
Through this training, women gained the space and support to become agents of change—not only in the household kitchen, but also at the decision-making table and in spaces of innovation.
