Forest and land fires (karhutla) occurring across several areas of West Kalimantan throughout 2026 have raised concerns among various stakeholders. The situation requires urgent attention and a rapid response to prevent further impacts on communities, the environment, public health, as well as social and economic activities.

As part of efforts to encourage timely and informed responses, Perkumpulan Gemawan has prepared the 2026 West Kalimantan Forest and Land Fire Situation Report. The report is intended to provide additional information for stakeholders to better understand the latest developments, identify emerging impacts, and strengthen mitigation and response measures to forest and land fires across West Kalimantan.

The report presents an overview of the current situation as a reference for government agencies, civil society organizations, communities, and other stakeholders in determining appropriate response measures, strengthening mitigation efforts, and improving coordination in addressing forest and land fires in West Kalimantan.
